BREEDING SHEEP - TUESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2016

CCM Auctions held their fortnightly sale of Gimmer Shearlings and Breeding Ewes at Skipton Mart on Tuesday.
Trade was sharp for Mule Shearlings at the 2nd show and sale held at Skipton on Wednesday. Thomas Binns’ of Downham had a wonderful run, winning first prize, which sold for £180, and a further 6 pens from £170 up to £178 which included the 2nd prize pen. Other best Mules on the day were £150 plus, to average £136.71. 2 Shears were also a sharp trade, with Thomas Binns topping the section at £155, David Coates next at £152, the section averaging £144.69.
Continental Shearlings were not just as dear as the first sale but still managed to top £200 from Ann Myers and Daughters of Winksley. Lucas & Nairey from Blackburn were next at £180 with Ken W Gamble of Easingwold next at £160.
Ewes were a sharp trade in the morning, and prices out with the 2 shears saw Messrs Wilson of Helsington, Kendal sell three pens of 3 shears at £138 twice and £135.

Next Breeding Ewe & Gimmer Shearling Sale is on Tuesday 27th September and will include the

Annual Special Sale of Halfbred and Horned Ewes broken mouthed, correct below and feeding ewes.
