Comprising: 5 Young Feeding Bulls, 72 Bullocks & Heifers, 9 Breeding Cattle & 2 Native Pedigree Cattle.
The Special Spring Sale of Native Store Cattle was held at Skipton Mart on Wednesday. The majority of Cattle were either Beef Shorthorn or Angus sired, with the Shorthorn classes sponsored by Morrisons Plc. Taking the prize for the best pair of stores was noted breeder Gerald Turton of Upsall Castle farms late selling for £1035. The majority of cattle were yearlings or younger, 12-13 mo heifers up to £1050 from Nick Carlisle and a pen of 5 Angus Heifers 10mo selling at £810 from Joe Throup. A run of Shorthorn sired Heifers selling from £900 to £980 form Page Farms.
Top price at the Native Bred Pedigree Sale was Airedale Kirston ab ET son of Rawburn Boss Hogg bred from the Chapleton Eventer daughter The Moss Kirsi which was consigned by Messrs D&J Isherwood of Skipton which sold to W Furniss & Son for 2100gns.
