3,344 Prime & Cast Sheep

Spring Lambs: A nice entry of lambs were good to sell today, Robert Towers and Charles Marwood both presenting some good runs and being well rewarded.  Robert topped the sale twice at £130 per head, whilst Basil Jarvis had 302.4p/kg for a nice Texel cross.

Prime & Lightweight Hoggs: Trade was fairly similar to last week. Lightweights and Export weights good to sell, with some runs of horned lambs touching 200p, whilst handy weight Mules were top side of 190p. A commercial export lambs was around 210p with the smart sorts anywhere from 240p up to 292.9p from Frankland Farms and 290p from Jim & Paul Baines. Heavy hoggs continue to find the going tougher with buyers complaining of too much fat.

Vendors responded to the call for cast sheep and nearly 500 farmers ewes were presented to average over £90.
