PRIME SHEEP (3,926 Sheep)
A similar entry of prime sheep sold to a slightly reduced average price on the week. The best end were good to sell with several pens at 220p to 250p, topping at 261.9p/kg or £110 each for a pen of 42kg Beltex lambs from Kevin Marshall , Otley selling to Vivers Scotlamb. The same combination was also responsible for a pen of 40kg lambs at £98. David Boothman, Halton East sold 36kg lambs at £88 (244.4p) to Paul Watson, and also some 37kg lambs at £89 (240.5p) to Bowood Farms. Messrs CT&EM Hammond of Padside sold 43kg Texel x at £100 each to Nick Dalby.
Hill bred lambs were slightly cheaper on the week, Mules selling at around 150p/kg, up to 160p from Geoff & Alistair Lawn or £77 per head from Ellis Bros. The overall selling average for the lambs this week was 163.5p/kg which compares quite well on the day.
A poor show of ewes for overall quality saw a few pens of good ewes break into 3 figures, but generally lean ewes were harder to place on the week.
