4,147 Prime Sheep

A good show of sheep with plenty of flesh about. Handy weight sheep (40kg to 44kg) short of requirements and as result often making as much as the 45kg to 47kg lambs, buyers also complaining that some of the heavy lambs (46kg plus) killing too fat and out of spec. Keep on top of your lambs before the weather breaks, don’t incur anymore cost than you have too, sell the meated ones before they start to cost more in the hopper!

The smart goods again a nice trade, the beltex breed has too many prices over £2 to mention. Hill bred lambs again a nice trade with Mule lambs a shade dearer on the week.

A bigger show of over 500 cast sheep but still short of requiremnets, many more could have been sold with a full ringside of buyers keen to operate.

Rearing Calves to £620 (76)

B&W av £51.31 Cont av £354 Native av £135

A good show of calves with a particularly strong show of Continentals. The British Blue heifers were well supported with a number of people looking for calves to grow into their suckler herd. Richard Spence had the trade of the day after Judge Tony Binns placed his Calf first with it eventually reaching the heights of £620 to Vickers and Richardson.

In the Bulls it was Shaun Sowray to the fore with a fantastic bull romping into £540, £500 & 450 respectively with Richard Spence in the mix also to £490.
