A cracking sale today with more lambs penned and trade very strong all through, with the Overall Sale average levelling at 222p/kg or £96.93 per head, and for comparison the SQQ stood at 226.1p.
Rob Lambert from Wigglesworth took top price per kilo at 339.5p when selling 43kg Beltex at £146 to Vivers Scotlamb.
D&A Livestock from Harrogate were selling at 329.3p for Beltex weighing in at 41kg and making £135 per head. The buyer again was Vivers Scotlamb.
James & Simon Garth from Keasden are regulars near the top of the price list, and today was no exception when they sold at 326.1p for 44kg Beltex at £143.50 with Vivers Scotlamb making it a clean sweep of the top three prices per kilo.
Ellis Bros, Addingham made 315p (44kg £139), as did MJ&G Taylor of Rathmell (38kg £120), closely followed by PW Simpson of Wigglesworth at 314p (43kg £135) who had 3 other pens at 300p or more.
99 pens today or 458 head of lambs making between 250p/kg at 339p/kg.

As predicted over the weekend, handyweight lambs were a tremendous trade today, with 38kg to 41kg nice Continentals receiving a very good enquiry ringside, whilst 42kg to 45kg were also dearer on the week. Heavier Lowland lambs were expected to be a shade easier, but these bucked the pre-sale thoughts and were a good trade all through.

Mule Lambs were forward in larger numbers and trade for these was very similar on the week, with better runs top side of 200p, topping at 215p from J Taylor, Bolton. Some notable prices of large pens being 44 Mules at 44kg making £90.50 from G&MA Lawn, None go Bye. R&C Greenwood, Bradley had a pen of 23 Mules at 45kg £92, James Middleton of Arncliffe sold 22 at 43kg £88, PL Metcalfe 22 at 43kg £86.50, AJ Taylor 13 at 49kg £97.50 and 28 at 45kg £90, and CD&RF Kitching 44kg £91.50, S&P Scrivin 10 at 45kg £92.50.

Horned Wethers were definitely dearer on the week, with lightweight good finished types selling to a stronger trade on the week and buyers keen to secure this type of lamb, Horned tups like the wethers also finding stronger prices on the week. Best of the wethers seeing 43kg at £88 and 43kg at £87.40 from JA&JH Hewetson, tops per head at £93 from N Parker, Silsden.
