MARKET REPORT - SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER 2013 INLAMB BELTEX & TEXELS CHRISTMAS POULTRY SHOW COLLECTIVE CATTLE

NATSB WINTER SALE OF IN LAMB PEDIGREE TEXELS

Forward:  130 head of Pedigree Texel

Championship honours at the NATSB sale fell to a Shearling Ewe, PFD1201888 from Procters Farm, Slaidburn. Brought into the show ring by Procters Farm Shepherd Jeff Aiken, this Haddo Ringleader daughter out of a Callerton Nomad bred Ewe was sold inlamb to Scholars Twenty Twelve. The successful bid came in from young local breeder William Watson of Hellifield. William secured a second Shearling Ewe PFD 1201997 from the Proctors pen at 1600gns, this Sportsman Scania sired ewe out of a Clynnog Joe Tex Ewe was sold carrying twins to Tophill Union Jack. Mark & William Keighley, Manderlea presented a good pen of Shearlings many of which were the last draft available by the successful sire Corrie Rocker. The pen leader KAM1201325 out of a Tophill Prototype ewe was a third four figure purchase at 1,350gns by William Watson. The Heyworth Lodge flock of Jennifer Lodge provided the next highest price for LSH1200176 at 1,250gns when this Allanfauld Rockafella sired Shearling Ewes out of a Haddo Neptune Dam sold in lamb to Sportsmans Tremendous to Ian Graham of Plumpton, Penrith. Another notable sale came with  a ewe lamb RKS1300734 from Chris Riby, Stonehills flock. Sired by Beautry Taz itself a son of Sportsman Pasternak and out of a Humeston Pride of Kings dam, it found a new home with Stuart Currie for his Beautry flock at Rathmell.

WINTER SALE OF IN LAMB PEDIGREE BELTEX ON BEHALF OF THE NORTHERN CLUB

Forward: 35 head of Pedigree Beltex

The 2nd winter sale for The Northern Club saw tidy entry. Leading the way at 620gns

was a ewe which stood Reserve Champion whose own ewe lamb included in the sale was

the Supreme champion. By Dooley Nissan and sold carrying twins it sold to Mr Edmondson,

Ingleton. The ewe lamb, itself by Drumchapel Scooby sold to show judge Ian Lancaster for

480gns.

IN LAMB COMMERCIAL EWES

Within today sale there was a dispersal of the aged portion of commercial Beltex Texel Ewes from Mr Frank Joel, Westhouse. This highly anticipated sale of ewes that have bred many fatstock champions at local shows attracted a vast amount of interest. Prices peaked at 380gns each for a pair of 1 crop ewes purchased by Ellis Bros, Addingham Moorside. A very pleasing overall average of £253 per head was recorded.
