The fortnightly sale produced a good end to the year. A large crowd of purchasers decended upon Skipton to source store lambs with grass in good supply country wide. The entry was made up generally of long keep lambs and these found favour with buyers, The strong lowland lambs generally mid £60’s, medium lambs £58 to £62 and the smaller sorts in the early £50’s. A few pens of nice Mules topped £60 but generally size was lacking and mid to late £50’s was the price range. Swaledale lambs were forward in large numbers with nearly 500 head in the entry, but the nice framed lambs were sold for either side of £40.

Within todays sale was the Annual Addingham Sheepbreeders Charity Show & Sale of donated Mule wether lambs, together with animal health items donated by suppliers of Pearson Farm Suppliers and also cakes and produce from local farms. The Champion lamb was presented by WP & B Walker and was was sold to John Turner from Draughton, who re-donated the lambs and it sold a 2nd time for £200 to Chris Pearson, then £100 to Keith Downs and finally £100 to Craven Cattle Marts. The lamb has now gone out to graze and will be re sold at the January Primestock show where the proceeds will again go to the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice at Oxenhope.

Next Sale is Wednesday 15th January 2014
