3,746 Prime Sheep comprising 3,523 Prime Lambs, 223 Cast Ewes & Rams

The last two weeks have been like chalk and cheese. Today there was much more demand at the ringside and tight numbers countrywide in the morning caused by poor weather and lower prices last week made that demand even stronger in the afternoon. Average up by £8 per head and 19p/kg. Smart lambs were a great trade, R Emmott of Howden Park, Silsden led the sale at £113, Nick Capstick of Bolton by Bowland was in at £109, Anthony Hewetson £109, Henry Atkinson £108 and William Shuttleworth of Rylstone £107. Henry Atkinson showed a tremendous run of lambs making 250p 244p 242p 235p and 234p. William Shuttleworth made 232p.

Commercial lambs were significantly dearer with all weights keenly contested. Mule lambs were a grand trade all day, £30 to £34 over the weight for heavier sorts (Mid 40’s) £27-£30 over for lighter end (40’s), all Mule Lambs averaged 168p. Horned wethers were also about 10p dearer on the week.
