STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2020

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 809 head of cattle Comprising: 809 Feeding Cattle (202 Young Bulls, 44 Beef Feeding Cows & Bulls, 563 Bullocks & Heifers)

Feeding Bulls – once again a very good trade for an excellent entry of spring 2019 bulls. The lighter end particularly good to sell indicative of feeders attempting to market bulls at lighter weights when finished. The section average was £950 with just an odd December born pure Limousin Bull at £1370 from WM&JE Shuttleworth.

Feeding Cows – some very good beef cows in todays entry and trade as strong as ever with an average of £932, and numbers short of buyers requirements. If you have cows or OTM clean to sell please contact Jeremy or Ted to discuss trade.

Stores – A more mixed entry after last fortnights Show & Sale, but trade very similar for the 563 head, comprising a large show of 297 bullocks and 266 heifers. In the sale were 139 head of Native bred cattle, Angus’s totalling 62 of those with a strong enquiry ringside. Bullocks up to £1270 from Harewood farming Co and Heifers to £1075 from M Holmes, Burnley. Black & White Bullocks also a good yarding and a strong trade with a pen of 6 from R Naylor at £965, and a breed average of £887. Next Fortnight Includes the Early Spring Sale of Native Sired Store Cattle, speak to Ted or Kyle for more details.
Continental strong cattle a nice trade with a full ringside of buyers keen, bullocks peaking at £1410 from Fairplace Farm, Cowling, and Heifers to £1270 from E&AM Simpson of Pateley Bridge. Yearling cattle coming forward in larger numbers as spring approaches and its evident that seasonal buyers are now in the market looking for cattle for a couple of months housing before turnout, the harder looking cattle being easier to place, nice continental bullocks 8-11mo £850-£1000, next grade £800 ish, whilst Natives saw a pen of 6 Angus outwintered Angus at 8mo from D Neave, Rochdale realise £720. Heifers under 12mo peaking at £1070 from JA&JM Wade & Son of Cononley.
