SWALEDALE RAMS - MONDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2018

MARKET REPORT – MONDAY 8th OCTOBER 2018 Forward: 62 Registered Swaledale Rams

There was a strong trade for Swaledale rams at the Annual Sale on Monday evening with over 90% of the entry finding new homes and tidy averages seen for the sale.
Top end prices saw Wilf Buckle from Bleathgill, Kirkby Stephen sell his pen leading Shearling for £2000. It was earlier awarded first prize for the ram with best conformation, and this tremendously strong bodied sheep, which was sired by a homebred of which a half share was sold to Alan Alderson, Barras, was knocked to JA&JH Hewetson, Giggleswick.
Earlier in the sale Kevin Huck from Bordley brought out his 4 shear ram. Purchased as a shearling from Messrs Marston, Easegill Head, it was sired by a Helbeck from a Mossdale ewe. It received spirited bidding from several quarters and settled at £1500 when sold to R&KA Burley & Son, Pateley Bridge.
Other prices and prize awards as listed below.
Averages were good as well with Aged av £307 and shearling av £284 for a 91% clearance. Show Results;
