2nd SHOW & SALE OF PEDIGREE SUFFOLK FEMALES With this Winter Sale of Females now in its second, the current circumstances could have tested its success, but with online bidding made available by the auction company to customers this created a strong virtual company of buyers, and internet bidders were keenly contesting the majority of lots.

Strong averages and excellent clearance rates at CCM Skipton Charollais females annual highlight Good clearance rates and strong across the board averages, both showing a marked increase on the previous year, were seen at the British Charollais Sheep Society’s annual autumn sale of registered breeding females at Skipton Auction Mart. New format two-day multi-breeds sheep fixture at Skipton produces multiple highlights There were multiple ovine highlights at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual multi-breeds sale of 754 head of rams and females, minus the usual shows and staged over two days to assist with Covid-19 safe distancing regulations, a new format that was well received. Top call of 1,700gns fell to a Texel shearling ram from regular Red Rose vendor Procters Farm. (Thursday and Friday, Oct 1&2)

CCM Auctions held their Annual Sale of Multi Breed Rams & Females at Skipton Mart this year split over 2 days to help with covid restrictions. Forward: 754 head of Rams & Females. Thursday – 195 head. Friday – 559 head

North Craven Dugdales in fine form at Skipton Lleyn sheep highlight The Lleyn Sheep Society’s annual sale at Skipton Auction Mart – as usual the final society sale of the season – saw females in high demand, with rams also receiving a solid trade. (Thus, Oct 1) Interest was particularly high for shearling ewes, with five pens achieving £200 or more, the top two making £205 per head. The first, a pen of ten, came from local breeders John and James Dugdale, who run the Borrins flock at Stackhouse, Settle, selling to S Lord, Oldham, the second a pen of nine from Welsh breeders E&D Jones, of Machynlleth, sold to A Hartley, Blackshaw Head.

CCM Auctions conducted the Northern Area Texel Sheep Breeders Club Sale at Skipton Mart on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September 2020. As ever, this sale was witness to some fantastic runs of sheep for both pedigree and commercial use, and trade was fast for the well fancied types resulting in both shearling ram and shearling ewe averages seeing sizable rises on the year.

Crimple Head & Meifod Dispersal CCM Skipton played host on Saturday to the Complete dispersal sale of the Crimple Head flock from Richard Wilson, Beckwithshaw, and the dispersal of the adult female portion of the Meifod Flock from Gareth Jones, Henllan, Denbigh.

Elvis rocks to 9,000gns top price at Skipton pedigree Beltex highlight A top call of 9,000gns, 10 sales at 2,000gns or more, much improved averages on the year and a 90% clearance rate, combined to make the Beltex Sheep Society’s annual sale of registered rams and females at Skipton Auction Mart a runaway success. (Sat, Sept 5)

Robert Price claims 1,500gns top price at Skipton Jacob highlight A top call of 1,500gns was seen at the Jacob Sheep Society’s 45th annual Northern Area sale at Skipton Auction Mart – and it fell to one of the breed’s best-known names, Welshman Robert Price, who runs the Pentre flock in Churchstoke, Powys. (Sat, Sept 5) His January-born 4-horn twin ewe lamb by the Scottish-bred Kinloch Franco, out of an Edingale dam by Blackbrook Don’t Push It, found a new home north of the border when falling to Ewen McMillan, who runs Luruha Jacobs near Glasgow.

Stage set for CCM Skipton 2020 pedigree sheep season Skipton Auction Mart says it is looking forward to a successful 2020 pedigree sheep sales season despite Covid-19 restrictions still not allowing shows for most pedigree livestock to be staged, though some are allowed with safe distancing judging in place. Additionally, a number of live sales will again be enhanced by an online remote bidding facility, which has proved increasingly popular since first introduced post-lockdown.

Oddacres Osmond makes history with top price online bid at first CCM Craven Pedigree Sale John and Claire Mason’s renowned Oddacres pedigree Limousin herd in Embsay made history at its local Skipton Auction Mart, clinching top call of £4,400 with a home-bred bull when the mart staged its first-ever timed online auction of cattle.
