PEDIGREE CHAROLLAIS FEMALES - SATURDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2019

Pedigree Charollais Females Messrs CW Marwood from the Foulrice Flock provided the Supreme Champion at the Autumn Sale of Charollais Female Sheep held on behalf of the British Charollais Sheep Society. The first prize shearling ewe shown throughout the summer is by Dalby Mount Aloe and was scanned inlamb to Cavick Up & Away selling to RJ&J Towers of Ingleton for 1200gns.

45 BREEDING CATTLE inc 17 PEDIGREE CATTLE The Autumn Pedigree Show & Sale was judged by Paul Baines. Leading Price in the bulls at the Autumn Pedigree Event was Queenshead Odin and Ampertaine Elgin son, a first calf bred from Millington Juliet. Born in March 2018 Odin was shown by Pat Varley of Queensbury and joined T Longton & Son of Quernmore for 1800gns. The first prize bull was the Limousin 2018 Elderberry Olden, Jupiter son, shown by E Blenkhorn & Son, son of Willitoft which made 1650gns to EW Gill & Sons Ltd of Sabden.

CCM Auctions held their Annual Sale of Rams at Skipton Mart on Friday covering the main sales for Suffolks, Blue Texels and Zwartbles together with second sales for Texels, Charollais, Beltex and other breeds. Ellis Bros claim top call with 2,400gns Beltex shearling ram at CCM Skipton multi-breeds highlight Procters Farm in peak form with another Texel champion Skipton Auction Mart’s annual multi-breeds sheep showcase for pedigree and pure-bred rams and females attracted another solid turnout of 897 head, with quality in abundance and sheep to suit all tastes and pockets. South Craven Forts secure 2,000gns top price ram at Skipton pedigree Lleyn highlight North & East England Lleyn Sheep Breeders Club chairman, Steeton’s Graham Fort, who runs the Brightonhouse pedigree flock with his wife Mandy, went to 2,000gns to secure the top price performer at the Lleyn Sheep Society’s annual registered show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. Deborah Witcher champion at Skipton Charollais commercial rams showcase Dyed-in-the-wool Charollais sheep aficionado Deborah Whitcher, who runs the Galtres flock in Skewsby, York, was supreme champion at the British Charollais Sheep Society’s annual commercial rams show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. BLUE TEXEL SHEEP - SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST 2019

3RD Annual Dales Blue Sale of Blue Texel & Blue Texel X Rams and Females The 3RD Annual Sale of Blue Texels saw a large quantity of sheep on offer with 87 Blue Texel sheep going under the hammer. Top call of the day came for a superb Blue Texel Ram from Tom Barley selling for 580gns to Mark Crabtree of Kettlesing with the next top call of the day coming for a superb Registered Gimmer Lamb from Enfys Willams of LLanadog which sold for 500gns with two others from the same vendor at 320gns.

Carperby Pastures flock secures 850gns breed record top price for ram lamb at Skipton Wensleydale highlight Nick Oliver, who runs the Carperby Pastures flock near Leyburn, was the standout performer by far with his home-bred ram lamb, which set a new breed society record price of 850gns for a tup lamb at the 128th annual Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Breeders Association show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. Joint highs of 3,200gns at CCM Skipton pedigree Beltex highlight Penyghent flock lands supreme championship for Bradleys Joint top prices of 3,200gns for a shearling ram from Matthew Burleigh’s Matt’s flock in Northern Ireland and a ram lamb from Scottish breeder Richard Wood’s Kingledores flock were recorded at the Beltex Sheep Society’s annual early autumn two-day pedigree breed highlight at Skipton Auction Mart. Hope flock champion again and top price at Skipton Jacob showcase Wyn and Siwan Harries, who run the Hope flock at Wenant, near Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, repeated the championship success achieved on their first-ever appearance last year on their return to the 2019 Jacob Sheep Society Northern Region 44th annual show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. East Anglian repeat coup at CCM Skipton annual Hampshire Down showcase The East Anglian-based Jones family made the long journey north well worthwhile when securing the supreme championship for the second year running, plus the reserve championship for good measure, at the annual Hampshire Down ewe and ram show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. (Friday, August 30)

MULTI BREED PEDIGREE CATTLE PRESS - WEDNESDAY 29TH MAY 2019

Show principals claim leading prices at CCM Skipton beef cattle highlight British Blue and Charolais bulls bagged principal show and leading price honours at Skipton Auction Mart’s Lingfields Beef Cattle Fair, the multi-breeds finale of the venue’s 2019 pedigree beef season. (Wed, May 29) Claiming both the championship and top price of 2,600gns was a 22-month-old Blue bull from Stewart Gill’s Hallfield pedigree herd in Dacre, Harrogate, who was showing for the first time at the annual highlight.

CRAVEN LIMOUSIN DAY - WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY 2019

A breed record of 10,000gns was established for the Limousin breed at the Craven Cattle Marts Ltd Craven Limousin Day. ‘Oddacres Oswald’ was presented by John & Claire Mason of Embsay at 12months of age being fully French bred by Linzo out of the cow Idee, having previously been placed 2nd in the NE Limousin Breeders Club herd competition in 2018. Oswald is a bull with extreme muscle and after standing 3rd in the Junior Bull class in the morning class, he went on to sell to Richard Sandham on behalf of Bradford Waste Traders.
