Northumberland shepherdess Emma Gray smashes world record price for working sheep dog with 18,000gns sale at Skipton Megan finds new home in Oklahoma, USA The world record price for a working sheep dog at an official sale was smashed at Skipton Auction Mart when Northumberland shepherdess, 34-year-old Emma Gray, hit 18,000gns (£18,900) with her two-and-a-half-year-old black and white bitch, Megan. Multiple highlights at CCM Skipton working sheep dogs sale Ross Games on top form with 7,600gns price leader One of the most successful working sheep dog sales ever staged at Skipton Auction Mart produced a record catalogue entry for the autumn fixture of 163, a top price of 7,600gns (£7,980), a brace of 6,000gns-plus sales, one at 5,400gns, eight at 4,000gns and over, a centre record average of £2,910 for broken registered dogs, plus the second highest ever price in the unbroken pen of 2,450gns. Welshman Sion Jones twice top dog on price at CCM Skipton Summer working sheep dog sale North Wales dog trainer Sion Jones, who runs Cefn Eithin Sheep Dogs in Corwen, had a field day at Skipton Auction Mart’s summer working sheep dogs sale, claiming top call of 10,000gns (£10,500) on the trials field and repeating the feat in the unbroken pen with a 1,600gns (£1,680) youngster. It is thought to be the first time a single handler has achieved a top price double at the venue. (Friday, July 5)

Dewi Jenkins’ Rose blooms to claim 8,500gns top price at CCM Skipton Spring sheep dog sale Welsh handler, Ceredigion’s Dewi Jenkins, who is currently producing some of the most sought-after and best-sold working sheep dogs in Britain, was again top dog on price at Skipton Auction Mart’s latest Spring sale. (Friday, May 17) Mr Jenkins, also a well-known trialist who farms Welsh Mountain ewes and Welsh Black cattle at Tynygraig Farm, Tal-y-bont, Aberystwyth, claimed his highest-ever price at Skipton of 8,500gns (£8,925) with his 13-month-old red and white bitch, Graylees Rose.

Northumberland shepherdess’s 14,000gns world record price coup at Skipton sheep dog sale Emma Gray bitch finds new home in United States A new world record price for a working sheep dog bitch at an official sale of 14,000gns, or £14,700, was the standout highlight at the opening fixture of 2019 at Skipton Auction Mart in North Yorkshire. (Fri, Feb 22) It fell to Northumberland shepherdess and media star, 33-year-old Emma Gray, and her two-year-old tri-coloured bitch Brenna.

Welsh and Irish lead the way at Skipton working dogs autumn highlight Welsh and Irish dogs, the latter in particular, had the pick of the trade at Skipton Auction Mart’s autumn working sheep dog sale, the final seasonal fixture of 2016. (Friday, October 28) The day’s top call of 5,800gns (£6,090) fell to a November, 2014, tri-coloured bitch, Llangwm Jen, from North Wales sheep farmer and dog trainer Sion Jones, who runs Cefn Eithin Sheep Dogs in Corwen.

Shaun Richards top dog at Skipton with 7,200gns bitch North Craven’s Shaun Richards was top dog again at Skipton Auction Mart annual summer sale of working sheep dogs when selling a well-bred two-year-old tri-coloured bitch for 7,200gns (£7,560). (Friday, July 22) Mr Richards, who runs Pen-y-Borough Sheep Dogs in Eldroth, near Settle, in the shadow of Pen-y-Ghent, secured top call with his fully Irish-bred and bought Nell, by the renowned stud dog and multiple trials winner Knockmaa Jack, from Michael Hynes in Belclare, County Galway, out of David Nevin’s Jan.
