Lingfields Beef Cattle Fair (Multi-Breed)
The Oddacres Limousin herd property of John & Claire Mason headed up the prices for the second successive sale at the Lingfields Cattle Fair. Oddacres Inca the 13 month old son of Homebyres Dixon was picked out by show judge Richard Brown as his reserve champion in the pre-sale show and went on to join Messrs JJ Dalby & Son of Wetherby for 4100gns. The Oddacres herd also produced the 2009 Stock Bull Econome bred by Earl Mazaud which sold to local dairy farmer John Howard for 2300gns.

A busy ringside of customers present helped to produce a trade that would be better than expected for the young bulls, and the vast majority of store cattle as well. All cattle were well contested as feeders like to keep sheds topped up and grazers wanting to take advantage of an abundance of grass.

Moorhouse milker champion again at Craven Dairy Auction
A standout newly calven heifer bagged another Craven Dairy Auction championship for local breeders Brian and Judith Moorhouse at Skipton Auction Mart’s bank holiday Monday show and sale.The Moorhouses, who run the Aireburn pedigree Holstein herd at Hesper Farm, Bell Busk, clinched the latest in a long line of titles with a home-bred daughter of the Worldwide Sires’ dairy bull Regancrest Mr Sam, who has been well utilised by the couple, having been responsible for past Craven Dairy Auction champions and prizewinners.
