1498 Prime Sheep

A reasonable show for a bank holiday Monday and a straight trade all round. Champion pair of Spring lambs being snapped up by Kitson & Sons, who made several other purchases on the day. Consigned by Dave and Laura Coar, Darwen they weighed 43kg and made £120 each. Top price per kilo was Fox Farms from Clitheroe at 185p selling to Yorkshire Halal Meat Co.
Hoggs were a very end of season type affair, the better fed sorts still commanding good prices, best at 266p on two occasions from Nick Capstick Bolton by Bowland, both pens purchased by Yorkshire Halal Meat Co. The same vendor also made 255p and 251p with Stephen Pepper making 245p and 243p. Top price hoggs were Beltex crosses making £120 per head from Hywell Williams Llandadog purchased by Kendall Farm Butchers, whilst Stephen Pepper made £118 to Hartshead Meat Co.
