MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 9TH JANUARY 2020. IN LAMB SALE REPORT. NATSB WINTER SALE OF IN LAMB PEDIGREE TEXELS. Forward: 80 head of Pedigree Texel

A good start to the 2020 pedigree sales calendar with an increase of 50% on the entry levels and a 90% clearance rate on the night. Peter Woof took championship ticket again this year with his pen leading Shearling gimmer, by his Eden Valley sire and inlamb to the 15,000gn Auldhouseburn Bolt son Stainton Conrad, it went home with the judge for 800gns. Leading inlamb price was 1000gns achieved by The Wigglesworth flock, property of Mrs F & Miss HJ Booth, when their 1st prize ewe by Proctors You’re Mine itself a Knap Wot A Nut son, out of a Pay As You Go dam and inlamb to the 70,000 Teiglum Young Gun got Gillians Laithe Bentham, it sold locally to D Hargreaves, Airton. Messrs Booth also made 900gns of a Gimmer Shearling, again by You’re Mine and inlamb to the Gillians Laithe sire selling to R Wilson, Beckwithshaw. Proctors farm had an eye catching pen of Gimmer shearlings, and the best of these also sold to 900gns, by Halbeath Woody and inlamb to the 100,000 Sportsman Batman it found a new home back in mid Lancashire with Angela Nairey. Commercial inlamb ewes however looked reasonable value on the night in the 200gns to 300gns price range.
The trade of the evening was probably reserved for the ewe lambs, Myfyr Evans presented the first prize lamb and Reserve Supreme sheep from his Rhaeadr flock, which took top price on the night at 1100gns. Sired by Garngour Alabama which has many notable offspring including Batman, this stylish lamb was purchased by North Yorkshire buyers Messrs Ashbridge. Mr Evans sold three further lambs by the same sire at 900gns 700gns and 500gns. Messrs Watson, Gillians Laithe sold 6 ewe lambs to top at 400gns and John North, Loxley sold 3 ewe lambs to top at 300gns. There was a total clearance of the 13 ewe lambs to average £439.38.
