CCM Auctions is the trading name of Craven Cattle Marts Ltd based in Skipton in North Yorkshire. Craven Cattle Marts Ltd has a long trading history dating back 130 years to the days when the Skipton Auction Mart Company formalised the marketing of livestock in Craven.

The Company operates from an extensive site on the outskirts of Skipton constructed in 1989 and redeveloped between 2002 and 2007. The busy livestock market selling 275,000 sheep and 20,000 cattle annually is at the heart of the business park and the redevelopment has extended the facilities to include WBW Land Agents and Surveyors, NFU Mutual, Kingsway Veterinary Group Large Animal Practice, ADM Systems, Craven College- Rural & Equine, Stanforths Butchers & CCM Quality Foods, Laycocks, Graham Guy Machinery, Chris Pearson Farm Supplies, Wynnstay Farm Supplies, Coars Agricultural, High Laithe Catering.

Skipton lies at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, at the gateway to the major stock producing area of Craven and in the midst of the Pennines. The mart is renowned for large seasonal sales of store lambs, gimmer lambs and breeding sheep alternating with sales of between 500 and 900 high quality store cattle. The popular fortnightly sale of store cattle includes a section for young feeding bulls which regularly features between 150 and 400 suckler bred premium types, pneumonia vaccinated with a high proportion of particular interest to export buyers.

As one of the country’s leading livestock markets Craven Cattle Marts Ltd holds an extensive range of pedigree sales for cattle and sheep.  Pedigree sales to note are Craven Limousin Day, Blue Wednesday, The Autumn Sale of Beef Shorthorn Cattle for members of the Beef Shorthorn Society, The Beltex Sheep Society Sale, The North of England Charollais Sheep Society Sale, The Northern Area Texel Sheep Breeders Sale and the Craven Annual Multi-breed Pedigree Breeding Sheep Sale.

Craven remains an important centre for monthly dairy cattle sales with Skipton’s central location the key to securing numbers from throughout Yorkshire and East Lancashire with sales supported by some of the country’s top pedigree breeders.

Since 1996 Skipton has become one of the leading centres for the sale of Working Sheepdogs with sales regularly attracting 100+ entries and buyers from throughout the British Isles and Europe.

Skipton Sale Rings

The ‘Ling Fields’ Sheep Ring, has been recently renovated. It is ideal for selling individual sheep and larger lots. It also has a comfortable seating grandstand.

The Main Ring remains a very popular sales ring with vendors and buyers. It has the capacity to hold a large crowd and creates a pleasant atmosphere with the added extra of theatre lighting to enhance high profile sales.

The Craven Ring, is the ideal size for selling batches of cattle.  With recently improved lighting it is comfortable with excellent heating. It has also been recently refurbished to include new weighing scale and ringside steelwork.
