MARKET REPORT - MONDAY 13TH OCTOBER - DAIRY

85 Rearing Calves to £460 B&W av £57.08 Cont av £321 Native av £203 Good show of calves today with quality present right the way through the sale, there were strong prices for all stamps of calf with the top price coming from Richard Spence of Sutton who made £460 for a British Blue Bull. Other notable prices were £240 from David Holmes for a Shorthorn Bull and £430 for a British Blue Heifer from Church Farm Enterprises. A strong trade which looks good coming in to Next Weeks CALF SHOW!! Judging: 10.30am Sale 11am Prizes for all Classes and Strong trades expected

DAIRY CATTLE - MONDAY 13TH OCTOBER PRESS

Jennings continues a tradition of success at Skipton Auction Mart Robin Jennings, who runs the Stainbank pedigree dairy herd in South Stainley, emerged as champion at the early October Craven Dairy Auction show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart. His title-winning newly calven heifer, four weeks calved and giving 31 litres, was by the Genus sire, Lutz-Brookview Burt, out of the home-bred Stainbank Honeysuckle. It sold for £1,980 to judge and regular Skipton buyer, Wick Williams, of Nantwich, Cheshire.

PEDIGREE CHAROLLAIS SHEEP - SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER

Forward: 90 head of Pedigree Charollais Females CCM Auctions conducted the 10th Anniversary Sale of Charollais females held under the auspices of The British Charollais Sheep Society. John & Richard Geldard of Low Foulshaw, Gilpin Bridge claimed Championship & Reserve Champion honours with 2 gimmer shearlings from their long established Wraycastle Flock. The champion (Lot 54) sired by Parkgate Jack and scanned twins to Galtres Never Say Never Again, which was a 2500gns purchase at the Worcester Premier Sale this year, It sold for 720gns to Messrs Beaumont of Longridge, Preston. Messrs Geldard also presented the Reserve Champion with the same sire and service details, this time for the top price in sale of 950gns to Messrs Tindall of Linton Springs, Wetherby.

PREMIER POULTRY SALE - SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER

AT THE OPENING PREMIER POULTRY SALE AT CCM AUCTIONS THERE WERE 175 LOTS. ENTRIES WERE CARD GRADED AND SOLD IN THE MAIN RING. CHAMPION BIRDS WERE EXHIBITED BY D POWNALL. THE NEXT POULTRY SALE 'IN THE PENS' IS ON SATURDAY 8TH NOVEMBER.

CHAROLLAIS SHEEP - SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER 2014 PRESS

Geldards grasp double glory at Skipton Charollais females highlight Breed mainstays, the Geldard family from Cumbria, clinched a memorable championship and reserve championship double at the milestone 10th anniversary show and sale of pedigree breeding females staged under the auspices of the British Charollais Sheep Society at Skipton Auction Mart.

PEDIGREE BEEF CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 8TH OCTOBER

Skipton Autumn Pedigree Event Top call of the day was 3900gns paid for the second prize senior bull, a British Blue bull consigned by Messrs H&S Maudsley of Stainforth, ‘Little Bank Hercules’ is a son of Empire D’ochain and a proven sire from the high health status ‘Littlebank’ herd and he went on to join Colin Whitelock of Gargrave. With a number of buyers in the market for a British Blue Bull, the first prize senior bull Keasden Head Herbi from Keasdens Shelia Mason was the next highlight at 2,500gns by ‘Imperial de L’ecluse’. The 2012 born bull joined Malhamdales Jeffery Burrow.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 8TH OCTOBER

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: head of cattle Comprising: 84 Young Feeding Bulls, 3 Grazing Cows, 444 Bullocks & Heifers, 15 Breeding Cattle & 17 Pedigree Cattle A busy day at Skipton Mart and another large entry of cattle was penned for sale. Bulls were again a sharp trade and bullocks and heifers attracted the usual large ringside of buyers and proved easy to cash.

3RD GIMMER LAMBS - TUESDAY 7TH OCTOBER 2014 PRESS

Ewe lambs – all 5,320 of them from the pick of the region’s sheep farmers - were in the spotlight for their annual show and sale day at Skipton Auction Mart. Standalone shows for Masham, Dales Mule and Swaledale ran alongside the third seasonal fixture for North of England Mule gimmer lambs. Trade was level across all breeds, producing averages very similar to 2013.

SWALEDALE RAMS - MONDAY 6TH OCTOBER

Forward: 96 Swaledale Rams CCM Auctions conducted the Annual Sale of Swaledale Rams at Skipton on Monday evening. Trade was not up to the levels seen in recent years. Another prime time Skipton double for Keelham Farm Shop A West Yorkshire farm shop is well on its way to buying every single prime cattle champion at Skipton Auction Mart’s monthly shows in 2014 – and is not that far behind in purchasing the monthly prime lamb champions. James Robertshaw, co-owner of Keelham Farm Shop in Brighouse and Denholme Road, Thornton, Bradford, made it an unprecedented clean sweep of monthly prime cattle title winners so far this year when securing the title winner.
