Craven Dairy Auction (23 head)

A smaller show for the early month show and sale of dairy cattle today with the balance of supply and demand finely balanced around the ring. A fall again in the commercial leagues of heifers with a number of good heifers sliding out of the £1,500’s into the £1,400’s. However a breath of fresh air with the Wood family from Holcombe stirred proceedings with three fine heifers topping today’s trade at £1820.

Cows from DL Leeming Ltd and Calvert Bros were up for grabs with Mark and Karen Calvert reaching £1650 for a 3rd Calver with a pedigree boasted some 13 gens of VG or EX behind it and was bought by a fine Pedigree Herd from Oakworth. David Leeming from Burnt Yates hit £1420 for a new calved heifer, arguably a bit back on the fortnight for this stamp of goods.

Two strong Incalf heifers from I Olivers & Partners looked the dearest things on the day at £1380 and £1160.
