A very solid trade for calves this morning with a healthy show of 56 through the door. Some heady prices today too, no more so than the B&W Bulls averaging £157 right through (arguably the quality was very good today, but the trade was there to meet them). British Blue bulls were in a higher gear again with Fred Houseman topping at £450 for a tremendous bull with all BB Bulls averaging £415 with 10 calves over the average.  A tremendous run of Limousin heifers from Craig Stephenson of Kirkby Lonsdale which topped at £400 were highly sought after by both feeding and breeding farmers and all were 3 -4 weeks old.

Natives bulls were topped by Michael Heron at £300 twice for 2 sweet, 3/4week old bulls and John Rushton of Elslack topped the heifers at £265.

If you’re looking to bring some calves to the auction don’t forget to let us know the Friday before for the benefit of buyer attendance.
