MARKET REPORT - SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER: 4,833 head. Overall Average was £91.97 (-£24.99 on 2012) CCM Auctions held their Annual Sale of Swaledale Draft Ewes and Gimmer Shearlings at Skipton Mart on Saturday. Trade was better than expected on the year, with prices not as far back as was feared prior to sale, but still offering buyers sheep at better value for money than recent years.

Trade was better than expected on the year, with prices not as far back as was feared prior to sale, but still offering buyers sheep at better value for money than recent years. The pre-sale show was judged by Mr Jeff Throup & Mr Martin Throup of Silsden Moor and kindly sponsored by Windle Beech Winthrop Surveyors and JACS Trade & DIY Warehouse. The prize awards were as follows:

 

Best Pen of 10 Ewes

1st – C Nelson & Son sold for £220 to MRP Critchlow

2nd – FC&N Walker sold for £168 to KM&L Throup

3rd – J&JE Bradley sold for £200 to S Booker

 

Best Pen of 10 Gimmer Shearlings

1st – CT Akrigg sold for £235 to J Palmer & Son

2nd – Saddle End Farms sold for £160 to AJ Ogden

3rd – N Richardson sold for £170 to J Belfield
