FORWARD: 508 HEAD OF CATTLE
Comprising:  125 Young Feeding Bulls, 245 Bullocks & Heifers, 39 Breeding Cattle, 99 Pedigree Cattle

The fortnightly sale pulled another good entry of over 500 head even though we are now in November, and on top of this there are another 125 Stirks and weaned calves entered for the Monthly sale this Saturday at 10am.

The Young Bulls were a shade easier on average as expected with buyers now turning their attention to the younger sorts that have time on their side as a response to the abattoir sector moves to limit age at slaughter to 16 months on bulls. Bulls over 13 months that are not farm assured were certainly discounted to prices seen recently. The suckled bulls up to 12 months old though were largely a very similar trade.

The Store Cattle never broke stroke from the previous sale. Quality was good to sell, fewer of the big forward cattle about though as more suckled calves feed into the system and these found a very solid trade.

A nice show of beef breeding cattle were good to sell. A run of incalf limousin heifers from Jim Stockdale, Burnsall topped at £1620 others at £1400. Several runs of Lim X Cows due late winter/ early spring finding strong interest selling from £850 to £1040. Outfits of Cows and Calves were a varied selection and more could have been sold. Several advanced entries already received for the next sale.
