NATIVE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 4TH MAY 2016

CRAVEN NATIVE DAY *NEW SALE FIXTURE* Forward: 136 head of cattle Comprising: 108 Bullocks & Heifers, 8 Breeding Cattle & 20 Pedigree Cattle. CCM Auctions conducted a new spring fixture when they held a special sale of Native Sired Pedigree, Beef Breeding and Store Cattle at Skipton on Wednesday.






In the Store Section a nice mix of strong cattle and yearlings for grazing were presented to a full ring of buyers where trade was seen to be strong and a total clearance was easily effected. John Smith of Carleton led the sale at £1,025 and £1,010 for two pairs of Angus Heifers, other stronger older cattle generally £900+.

Yearlings were sought for grazing, John & Alison Spensley making £915 to £945 of Angus Bullocks at 12mo, David Boothman making £900 of a pair of Hereford Bullocks 13mo and £900 and £920 twice of Hereford Heifers 13mo, Richard Wallbank had a pair of angus Bullocks 12mo at £845 and John Henfry made £820 of a pen of 5 Angus Bullocks 12mo.

Best of the commercial breeding cattle was a 5yo Shorthorn Cow with Bull calf from Michael Daggett which made £1,210.

Top call in the bulls at the Craven Native Day was the 2015 born Crookrise Walter bred and shown by Mesrs  G&MA Lawn of Skipton and sold to Wallbank Farms of Wyresdale for 1350gns. Weston & Co of Rathmell produced the 2014 Hereford Bull Capple 1 Christopher which sold locally to Roger Dakin of Hellifield for 1200gns.

The pedigree female section was headed up by Crookrise Petra a maiden heifer sired by the Irish bull Bohey Corporal which sold to Brian Church, Askwith for 1400gns.

A notable attendance of dairy producers looking for easy calving bulls and more bulls ready for work could of changed hands.
