STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 12TH JUNE 2019

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 392 head of cattle Comprising: 365 Feeding Cattle (86 Young Bulls, 59 Beef Feeding Cows/Stock Bulls, 216 Bullocks & Heifers) & 27 Breeding Cattle. A mixed show of feeding bulls met a very good trade selling to a busy ringside. Largest increase seen in the value of Lightweight 300kg to 350kg bulls with very few below £800. Premium bulls also more expensive with a number of bulls at £1250+. 400kg to 500kg bulls a slight improvement on previous sales

A quieter show of store cattle met a rather subdued ringside as a result of the falling deadweight price. Best  bullocks could still make strong money with John Hopkinson of Fair Place farm receiving £1250 for his superb entry, with a heifer from the same home topping the female prices at £1230 and heading for breeding up at Borderley with John Tennant of Low Bucker House.

Smaller  and more commercial cattle would find the trade considerably easier than previous weeks however the sweeter end of the retail heifers and bullocks still remained good to sell even at the end of the sale.  Large runs of cattle sold away nicely again today with Messrs Brown of Stockton on Forest taking the prize for a Pen of three or more with his run of 4 Simmentals at £1160.
