STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 2019

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 518 head of cattle Comprising: 514 Feeding Cattle (73 Young Bulls, 55 Beef Feeding Cows & Bulls, 386 Bullocks & Heifers) & 4 Breeding Cattle. Feeding Bulls – Strong Bulls were in short supply and those looking for forward cattle were forced to dip into the older end of 2019 born cattle. Jan/Feb born bulls were to £1060 for a pen of 4 Sim x from RD Elliott of Tadcaster. Best of the Autumn Bulls were JA&M Wade & Son of Cononley selling 12 month old Lim to £1140. Bulls over 13months were to £1100 for a Sept born Lim from J&G Huck, Buckden.

Feeding Cows & Mature Bulls – Customers at the ringside looking for premium export type culls. Ken Gamble of Easingwold sold 2 Pure Bred British Blues for £1750 and £1675. Rest of the cows a sharp trade with Cont x cows carrying meat always £850-£970. A good Pure Blue Bull made £1320 from FA Caton of Weston.

Stores – Trade carried on from last fortnight with nice continentals with power and shape quick to sell as feeders look to keep pens topped up in response to a slightly sharper prime trade. A large entry of Native sired cattle for the second autumn sale found a very ready trade for Angus sired, whilst others were a straight trade on the day. Christmas show next fortnight and plenty of cattle required to satisfy demand. Entries to the office.
