Comprising: 105 Young Feeding Bulls, 9 Beef Bred Feeding Cows , 235 Bullocks & Heifers & 37 Breeding Cattle
At CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale there was a very good entry of nearly 400 head for a mid-summer sale.
Young Bull trade was just up a notch with a top of £1,290 for a 13 month Blue cross from Messrs Lodge of Westside House, Malham Moor, closely followed at £1,280 for 13month Limousin cross from Jimmy Baines of Trawden who also sold a 12month old Blue cross at £1,200. Strong bulls continued a good trade all sale long with Robert Wade of Connonley making £1,260 and £1,200 of 12month old Limousin crosses.
However it was the younger square types that saw the best lift. In the store section it was a yearling Black Limousin Bullock from Richard Shepherd of Pateley Bridge that caught the eye racing away to £1,280, and John Lancaster led the heifer prices with a 12month old Limousin cross Blue that was knocked down for £1,210. A further 34 head on the day sold from £1,110 to £1,190 reflecting the quality of cattle on offer at Skipton even for a mid summer sale. A good show of Native Beef Sired cattle had Angus heifers topping at £1,085, Hereford Bullocks at £1,140 and Angus Bullocks at £1,100, whilst 33 Black & White Bullocks in the mix topped at £990 and average £745. Overall Averages saw 105 Bulls level at £976, 109 Bullocks at £928 and 126 Heifers at £911.
