STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 7TH MARCH 2018

Forward: 449 head of cattle Comprising: 151 Young Feeding Bulls, 31 Beef Feeding Cows & 267 Bullocks & Heifers. Feeding Bulls met the same strong demand with plenty of buyers who missed last week’s weather affected sale ready to step up to the ringside. Just bulls over 12 months of age which averaged £1093 and the rest of the entry of 151 under 12 months which averages £988.

A mixed show of Feeding cows saw best end top at £1400 for a nice young Limousin, but straight grazing cows for medium to long term keep were in strong demand and selling well.

Store cattle sold away well to a ready audience with 14mth to 24mth cattle a swift trade right throughout the day. Native bullocks seemed to draw a premium once again with some 8-10 month old bullocks from R&A Wallbank at £890, and some more young 8mth bullocks from Messrs Neave at £750. Best older bullocks and heifers topped at £1300 for a big Simmental X bullock from John Rennard of Beamsley with Paul Drinkall of Gargrave seeing the heights of £1270 for a tremendous Lim x Heifer which sold for breeding to J Townley of Clapham.
