STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 9TH JANUARY 2019

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle. Forward: 1076 head of cattle. Comprising: 1025 Feeding Cattle (324 Young Bulls, 47 Beef Feeding Cows, 654 Bullocks & Heifers) & 51 Breeding Cattle.

23 Feeding Bull customers in attendance for the opening sale and an identical average to 2018 for an extra 50 sold £951. Peter Holt of Rosendale was top price at £1340 for a 12 month old British Blue. Some exceptional runs of bulls and buyers prepared to pay a premium for well drawn animals sold in groups. 

Feeding Cows were a sharper trade than of late, with additional customers operating at the ringside and 11 successful purchasers. Best cows £1100-£1200 topping at £1300 for a fleshed Limousin cross from L Bamforth & Son of Wainstalls. 

Store Cattle were a decent trade all through the sale with prices generally in from of expectations. Stronger cattle finding a ready market, smart types good to sell. Native Cattle continue to sell well at Skipton, with Angus and Hereford in strong demand all day long.
