STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2017

Forward: 908 head of cattle Comprising: 283 Young Feeding Bulls, 8 Beef Feeding Cows, 579 Bullocks & Heifers, 38 Pedigree & Beef Breeding Cattle. Young bulls witnessed a trade a shade easier to a fortnight ago with the difference being in the 400kg bulls. RS Harker & Son leading the prices with a Limousin bull at £1380 and also took the pen of three top price with three limousin’s at £1170. Overall average for all the bulls was £1006. Still plenty of Spring 2016 bulls making between £850 and £1050.



Another strong number of bullocks and heifers forward for the second sale of February. The trade was very similar to a fortnight ago with strong bullocks and heifers on the receiving end of some fierce bidding, John Walmsley of Pleasington saw his pen of three Limousin Bullocks hit £1200 with Ned Simpsons pen of 4 heifers hitting £1140.  

 

 Smart bullocks and heifers were at a premium as well today with the annual Craven Champions show cattle drawing buyers from far and wide to sample the best Skipton has to offer. 10 – 12 month old bullocks and heifers witnessed a strong trade from start to finish with well shaped and stylish cattle regularly exceeding expectations. H Harvey & Son, Norfolk got in amongst the highest priced pens with three 11 month old bullocks at £1140.

At the Early Spring Pedigree Event Messrs WE Swales & Son Ltd won the Championship with a 2015 Pedigree Limousin heifer sired by Kaprico Firecrest, a sympa son which joined D Lumley & Sons for 1900gns.

Leading price was Messrs W Richardson & Son with a 2014 Rocky son selling for 2400gns and a 2015 bull bred back to Ronick Hawk which also made 2400gns.
