STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 19TH AUGUST

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle. Forward: 446 head of cattle, Comprising: 37 Young Feeding Bulls, 387 Bullocks & Heifers & 22 Breeding Cattle. Numbers were again good for the time of year at CCM Auctions fortnightly sale of Store & Breeding Cattle held at Skipton Mart on Wednesday.

A good crowd of buyers produced another fast selling trade with most classes easily upkeeping recent rates.
Feeding Bulls were sharp to sell, but short of numbers, vendors should note that from October new maximum carcass weights will be introduced by some processors. Which will further underpin demand for weaned, creep fed 8-10month old beef bred store bulls.

In the store cattle section additional entries on the day pushed the entry to nearly 400 head and they were easily sold. Strong cattle were keenly contested again and were short of buyers requirements. The strong heifers were especially good to sell as prices reported show. There were 148 head of Native sired Cattle and Black & White Bullocks in the sale today, the 71 Natives on offer seeing Angus Bullocks average £1057, whilst the 77 Black & White Bullocks topped at £1,065 from H Down & Son, Bingley. The yearling continental cattle sold away to a similar trade.
