STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 22ND NOVEMBER 2017

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 382 head of cattle Comprising: 86 Young Feeding Bulls, 21 Beef Feeding Cows, 269 Bullocks & Heifers, & 6 Breeding Cattle. 79 Bulls of the 86 forward under 12 months of age and the strength and quality of the 2016 spring born calves improving every sale. Top price of the January born bulls was a Limousin x from JA&JM Wade & Son, Cononley. James Huck of Austwick sold his first draws 4 continental cross bulls born January to March 2016 to average £1143. Smaller bulls £720 to £970 throughout the sale. Overall aver of the under 12 month bulls was £933.


A handful of older bulls averaged £1060 to top pf £1260 from Messrs R&HA Burley & Son, Wath. Overall average £943.20

A handful of top end feeding cows headed up by CT Akrigg, Cray with a pure bred British Blue at £1420. Overall av £803 which included a number of lean Beef dairy crosses.

Store Cattle saw a larger proportion of younger and second quality cattle in the entry, but all found a sharp following selling away well. Smart cattle of all ages were easily cashed with yearling bullocks and heifers of superior quality seeing a sharp trade.

A few Cows and Calves in the sale today saw a top of £1700 for a Pathenaise Cow 4th calver with Lim Bull calf, whilst a further 2 outfits sold at £1520 each. Plenty of interest still for the correct types, especially with a high health status such as these.
