STORE LAMBS - WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2014

Forward: 7302 Head, Overall av £56.24 . Store Lambs were forward in large numbers for CCM’S fortnightly sale on Wednesday as this week’s busy schedule moved into its third day. 7,302 lambs sold today at an overall average £56.24 each and over 15,000 sheep have now been this week.

 

 


Today was the special show & sale of pens of 25 Horned wether lambs. Judging was undertaken by Mr Ian Lancaster and the following results were given:

Swaledale –

1st W&R Verity selling for £43.50

2nd W Banks & Son selling for £35

Dalesbred –

1st K Verity selling for £47.50

2nd W&R Verity selling for £41

 

Trade for horned wethers was good with several seasonal customers looking to purchase, 581 Swaledale & Dalesbred wethers were sold to average £38.52. 1,546 Mule & Masham wethers were forward and again with winter keep becoming available numerous buyers were keen for sheep, Masham averaged £54.22 and Mules £52.87. Tops came from Messrs Harrison & Son of Weston selling 95 Mules in one pen at £56.80. Look at the prices and get lambs entered for the next sale.

Lowland lambs were a nice selection, all the strong lambs were in the 60s, medium lambs late 50s, long keep lambs £46-£54 depending upon size.

Suffolk and Continental Gimmer Lambs  found a good following but they need to be strong lambs with good skins and clean heads.
