PEDIGREE SOUTH DEVONS - WEDNESDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2018

The South Devon Herd Book held their Annual Skipton sale on Wednesday where a nice entry of 9 Maiden Heifers were put forward for sale. Leading the sale at 1400gns was an 2016 born heifer from A Welch of York. A solid average of £1230.83 was seen for a 100% clearance.

Aberdeen Angus at Skipton. A top call of 3400gns and a clearance rate of 95% were the headlines at The Aberdeen Angus Cattle society’s inaugural Autumn show and sale of Pedigree females at Skipton Mart, North Yorkshire on Wednesday.

Beef Shorthorn Sale RepThe Beautry herd of Pedigree Beef Shorthorns had the standout pen of cattle at the Beef Shorthorn Society’s Autumn sale of breeding cattle held at Skipton. Stuart and Gail Currie who farm at Rathmell sent out the Supreme Champion Beautry Rose Lolita a quality Roan March 2017 daughter of Poyntington Himself the half sister to Kooky Rose the northern calf show champion in 2016 and reserve at the 2017 Skipton sale.

Pedigree Charollais Females A strong sale was witnessed at Skipton on Saturday when 88 Pedigree Charollais Females were brought forward for sale from members of The BCSS Northern Region with an overall selling average of £565 per head. The highlight of the sale came in the form of a Ewe lamb (lot 67) from Charles and Stephen Marwood’s Foulrice “Celebration Sale”.

Cattle take centre stage at CCM Skipton Autumn highlight A bumper bovine entry approaching 700 head took centre stage at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual Autumn Pedigree Day, featuring shows for multi-breed beef breeding cattle, suckled bulls, steer and heifer calves, primarily 2018-born. (Wed, Oct 10) This year’s pedigree fixture attracted a much larger turnout of 50 bulls and females and a top call of 1,700gns for a 2015-born Aberdeen-Angus bull, Crook Rise Pendle, from local breeders, John and Judith Garnett in Draughton.

CCM Auctions held their Annual Sale of Rams at Skipton Mart on Friday. With selling today spread across 4 sale rings the market was full to capacity with breeds covering the main sales for Blue Faced Leicesters, Suffolks, Blue Texels and Zwartbles together with second sales for Texels, Charollais, Beltex and other breeds. The results of the shows and prices achieved are as below. Thanks to all our judges for giving their time and to sponsors who generously gave prizes. Forward: 1178 head of Rams & Females.

David Towell tup top of the flocks with 3,000gns sale at CCM Skipton multi-breeds highlight Local Texel sheep breeder David Towell, who runs the Moor Top flock at Upper Leys Farm on Glusburn Moor, was the standout performer on price with a 3,000gns sale at Skipton Auction Mart’s multi-breeds sheep showcase for pedigree and pure-bred rams and females. (Fri, Oct 5) The South Craven farmer always does well at the annual highlight and he topped this year’s entire sale with a shearling ram by Moor Top Yorkie, sold at last year’s corresponding fixture for 1,400gns.

CCM Auctions conducted the Northern Area Texel Sheep Breeders Club Sale at Skipton Mart on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st September 2018 – Quality was in abundance again at the NATSB Texel Sale held at Skipton Auction Mart, which saw 37 sheep sold at 4 figure prices, and solid averages with the Shearling Rams levelling at £757.36 and Ram Lambs £402.34 as this sale once again attracted a huge crowd of buyers and a fast selling trade.
