MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 9TH AUGUST 2014 PRESS

All eyes on Skipton store lamb seasonal opener The big opening seasonal store lamb show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart produced a record entry of 4,087 for the annual fixture, a huge increase on last year’s 2,231-strong turnout. As ever, the sale drew nationwide interest, with all eyes firmly fixed on the opening trade, which saw lambs sell to an across-the-board average of £56.73 per head, compared to the previous year’s £68.18.

MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2014 CCM Auctions held their final fortnightly Wednesday Sale of Store Lambs for the 2013-2014 season at Skipton this week. A very good entry for the time of year was assembled before the usual ringside of customers and a fast selling trade ensued, although not just as dear as the previous sale. MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2014 Forward: 549 Head, Overall av £65.98 A cracking trade today for all classes of lambs, some strong sorts getting away at unbelievable prices, whilst Continental cross genuine stores selling at £70 plus. Horned lambs also in good demand with buyers in abundance looking to keep fields and sheds topped up, even in this weather!!

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 15TH JANUARY 2014 1,710 Head, 1279 Store Lambs & 431 Breeding Sheep A good start to the New Year with Store Sheep a sharp trade and plenty of customers present from Welsh Borders & further afield. Plenty more could have been sold and demand looks strong for the next sale. A special sale of inlamb ewes created a great amount of interest including a dispersal sale for Mr John Turner, Draughton whose sheep were in fine order. They helped attract a good company of mainly local buyers, friends and neighbours to bid for them and produced a highly satisfactory trade.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 11TH DECEMBER 2013 Forward: 2330 Head Av £54.57 The fortnightly sale produced a good end to the year. A large crowd of purchasers decended upon Skipton to source store lambs with grass in good supply country wide. The entry was made up generally of long keep lambs and these found favour with buyers, The strong lowland lambs generally mid £60’s, medium lambs £58 to £62 and the smaller sorts in the early £50’s.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 11TH DECEMBER 2013 PRESS MULES RAISE MONEY FOR MANORLANDS The seventh annual charity sheep show and sale of predominantly Mule wether lambs staged by Addingham & District Sheep Breeders’ Association at Skipton Auction Mart raised a resounding £4,500 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, Keighley.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2013 Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs Forward: 5,672 Head, Overall av £58.64 The fortnightly Store Sheep sale produced the sale of the Autumn so far with all classes trading at higher levels than the previous sale, and notably significantly improved from the corresponding time last year. With grass keep coming available a packed ringside assembled to compete for lambs, which were a good selection offering something for all from strong short keep lambs to smaller wintering types.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER:6,589 Head (Overall av £56.54) At the fortnightly sale of Store Sheep there was a good attendance of travelled buyers looking to purchase lambs for longer term keep and this helped to maintain the trade for Suffolk, Continental and Cheviot lambs from that seen at the previous sale, smarter types would be a shade dearer.

MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 4th SEPTEMBER 2013 Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs Forward: 6046 Head, Overall av £56.18 A tidy show of lambs met with a decent trade. More travelled buyers were in attendance from Wales and the Eastern counties, stretching all the way down into Norfolk. There were more Mule Wethers on offer at this sale with over 1500 head of these averaging £1 more than the previous sale to level at £50.91 each. Texel and Cheviot lambs also found a much better following with more seasonal customers arriving for wintering lambs. Strong end £60 to £65, keeping lambs £54 to £59.

MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 21st AUGUST 2013 Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs Forward: 6046 Head, Overall av £54.42 (£60.52 in 2012) CCM Auctions held their fortnightly sale of store lambs at Skipton Mart on Wednesday where trade was seen to be slightly dearer against the previous sale. With more buyers in attendance from the Southern counties and Wales the longer keep lambs and mule wethers found a much better trade whilst short keep lambs were in line with recent improvements to the prime trade.
