NATIVE STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY 2021

CRAVEN NATIVE DAY Forward: 128 head of cattle Comprising: 108 Feeding Cattle, 5 Breeding Cattle & 15 Pedigree Native Cattle Native Store Cattle – A good show of Native bred store cattle with very active competition ringside. Grazing sorts well away with pens of Luing cross Galloway young yearling grazers making £685 with the over year Luings from the same home realising £930.


 

Angus feeding bullocks sold to £1280 for 2 pens of strong dairy bred bullocks from regular consigner D&J Coates. Other strong feeders in the £1190-£1230 region. Hereford bullocks sold to £1080 for MR&VL Parsons, Settle. Angus young grazers sold to £810-£950 for yearling to 14-month goods. Angus heifers £1000-£1080 for feeders, £800-£900 for grazers with mixed goods sold and some 7-month old ones at £630-£660.
A run of Longhorn cross Feeding Bulls sold tremendous with some weight being sold at £1140, and medium bulls from the same farming at £920-£800. Plenty of purchasers ringside for bullocks and heifers of the 8-15 month range and usual purchasers out for 16 month plus goods paying prices seen on a regular basis here at CCM.

Top price of the day at the Craven Native Day was 2000gns ‘Yearsley Royal Lion’ a well grown Rawburn Jackson Eric son bred from one of the Yearlsey herds best cow families Yearlsey Royal Lady and shown by TA&P Johnson from Brandsby selling to Robert Gemmell.

Best of the females was a 2019 Roan Shorthorn heifer from Johnathan Allison Farms sired by Stonehills Kracker Jack the sweet naturally reared heifer sold for £1500.

Hereford bulls sold to 1500gns from BJ Boulton of Wainstalls who sold Stoner 1 Spice Rack a 2019 Gouldingpoll 1 Gold Spice bred from Dendor 1 Keepsake a cow with very good ebvs.
