Grazing Cows – trading at a new level to average £1068. Frame and finish well received at £1300-£1490. Cows with scale to feed £900-£1100.

Store Cattle - £5,500 New Record Price at Skipton.
An excellent entry of Show Cattle for the Craven Champions Sale today at Skipton with our Judge for the day, Mr Craig Bentley of Kepwick near Thirsk, choosing a super Black Limousin Heifer as his champion from Hodder Valley breeders Messrs JC Walker & Son of Brennand Farm. Sired by a homebred son of Lodge Hamlet out of a Fendt sired Blue cow, this classy May 2021 born heifer attracted bidding from both ringside and telephone bids too, before falling to local show cattle masters John & Claire Mellin of Mill House Farm, Long Preston for a new Mart record price of £5,500.
Messrs Walker also made £2800 of another Black Lim Blue heifer that stood second in its class to the champion and headed North to Aberdeenshire with Messrs W Robertson & Son.
Mark & Fee Ewebank of Intake Farm, Middlesmoor in the upper reaches of Nidderdale stood Reserve Supreme champion with a Black Blue Lim Heifer, only born in August 2021, this lovely baby beef heifer sold at £2700 again going to Messrs Robertson.
Messrs Walker made £1900 £1800 and £1750 of further show cattle, Messrs Ewbank £1550 and other show cattle £1200 to £1500. (Full prize awards and prices below)

Outwith the show, young cattle were a super trade today with buyers lined up looking for growing cattle. Messrs KA&HL Fawcett of Dalehead made £1550 £1510 and £1440 of Blue & Lim heifers approaching a year old, with R Gumley of Littleborough and E&M Townley & Son of Clapham achieving £1300 for 10 old heifers and 9 month old Bullocks respectively. Messrs Townley also made £1280 of a brace of 10 months old Limousin Heifers.
