Feeding Bulls – A full attendance of buyers today looking to keep pens topped up.
Jeff Pickles Ribblehead took top price with his usual consignment of strong well fleshed sorts reaching £1460 and £1420 for May 2020 born Limousin crosses.
A run of Simmental cross bulls July August 2020 born from Messrs Elliott Tadcaster reached £1400 on three occasions (11 head) with others at £1360.
Others at £1400 were W&A Lambert, Selside, North Ribblesdale with a May 2020 born Lim who also made £1390, and E&AM Simpson Pateley Bridge at £1400 with another homebred Limousin.
Young bulls under 10mo were a nice trade, levelling at £1106 with hard commercial bulls £850 to £1000, and the smart types to £1230 at 9 months from JB&AH Coates Cowan Bridge, and £1200 for a run of nice Limousin’s 9 month from L Bamforth & Son, Wainstalls.
Right in the slot today were the 10/11month bracket with some premium quality sorts forward and easily reflected in the age average at £1257, against the over 12month bulls at £1167.
More Young Bulls required for next sale, Speak to Jeremy for more details on trade.

Feeding Cows – A shortage of Cows on the market this last 10 days has caused a rise in values and that was evident again today with no let up in trade for short and medium keep cows.
An excellent 6 year Limousin from Rick & Robert Holroyd, Wadsworth led the prices at £1980. The same vendors also made £1460 of another heavy Limousin, closely followed by John Mason Embsay at £1440 with a pure Limousin.
Heavier fleshed cows easily in the £1100’s and £1200’s, The next grade were £950 to £1100, and some plainer cows with frame £750 to £925, but not many plain cows in the entry today with just one cow under £620, so an overall selling average of £1066 for the 49 cows on offer reflected this.
1 Stock Bull forward, a Beef Shorthorn sold at £1180.
