BULLS

A larger show of 181 feeding bulls attracted a couple of travelled buyers to the ringside today and helped produce a fast selling trade for Spring 21 born bulls of all qualities. Having said that, it was a younger June 21 born Limousin cross from Jeff Pickles RIbblehead that took lead price at £1660, followed closely at £1640 twice by W&A Lambert Selside with March and April 21 born Lim crosses. Also worthy of note is E Crosby Morley with a blue cross April 21 born at £1600. Other premium types in the £1400’s and £1500’s, with 39 head achieving this price range today.
Good Commercial Bulls £1250 to £1400 at 10-12mo, farming bulls continental bred £1000/£1150, with Native sired Bulls under 12mo generally mid £800’s to mid £900’s.

COWS
62 Feeding Cows
Another sharp trade for a large entry of cows, although overall quality was not as good as the previous sale so an overall average of £1233 will be fair result on the day. Prices very similar for middle of the road cows, and although there were a few leaner lighter lasses in the entry, they saw a very similar trade as well.

STORES

Bullocks:

Younger commercial bullocks looking just a shade cheaper on the fortnight, but we are into the next draw of many folks runs so selling away nicely in reality. Plenty of folk for grazing types and the younger bullocks were generally from £900 to £1100 depending on quality, smart end making more from £1200/£1300, a few harder types a shade less. Top price yearling Bullock came from Patrick & Thomas Walker Appletreewick, selling their May 21 born Limousin Bullock at £1550.
The 18/20month old Bullocks were good to sell with medium to short keep generally finding a very good enquiry. Dairy Blues in this age range hit £1490 £1460 £1450 and £1440 from David & Harry Coates, Coniston Cold, with Andrew Houseman, Dacre making £1480 of a trio of Dairy Blues as well. Suckler bred younger heifers saw a very good enquiry with a packed ringside of customers looking for nice types. JS Stephenson Bordley took lead price for yearlings at £1380 with a May 21 Born Blue cross. The best of the rest 12mo or less were in the £1100’s and £1200’s with commercials £850 to £1000.
Slightly older Heifers born Early Spring 21 (Feb-Mar-April) saw some excellent prices for quality continentals with North Craven vendors taking chief prices, including Jeff Pickles Ribblehead at £1780 Lim x born Feb21, and £1440 Lim x Jan21. W&A Lambert of Selside made £1610 of a Feb21 Limousin cross followed by another same age at £1500.
Older cattle 2020 born found a nice enquiry for most classes, the better stronger fleshy types £1300 plus, with JG Hall & Son Gargrave making £1600 of a 2yo Limousin cross and £1510 & £1480 of others similar age, Jeremy Taylor Broughton £1590 of a pair of Angus Heifers, Richard Elliott Tadcaster made £1500 of a Simmental born August 2020. Plenty of other good dairy crosses in the £1300’s and early £1400’s, with well framed sorts £1100’s and £1200’s, leaner or lighter types £1000/£1100.
