Feeding Bulls - A great trade for Young Feeding Bulls today with numbers becoming tighter and a full contingent of buyers ringside to hoover them up and level at an overall selling average of £1200.80p for 113 head sold. Strong types were keenly contested, and the younger smaller keeping bulls hit the heights once again.
9mo and younger peaked at £1280 from WI&AM Atkinson Bleasdale, with best end in this younger age group making £1150 to £1250 and an age grade average of £1131.74.

Last year’s late Spring born bulls, aged 10/11mo, were bang in the slot today with the best end of these achieving £1250 plus, up to £1390 from DM White Hebden and £1360 TH&K Wood Birstwith, nice keeping bulls either side of £1200, and the age bracket levels at £1208.78.

Over year bulls were a good selection, and produced the sale topper in the shape of a Black Lim Blue cross at £1,650 from JG Bamforth & Son, Thongsbridge. Others at £1,440 and £1400 from J Pickles RIbblehead, and £1400 JR Douglas Blackburn. Other strongest bulls £1300 plus and the over year bulls av £1226.53.

More Young Bulls required for next sale, Speak to Jeremy for more details on trade.

Feeding Cows - Another mixed show of 54 head of Beef Bred Grazing Cows met another sharp trade with sheds needing filling and grass parks needing grazing.
Stock Bulls started the sale at £1880 with a 6 year old Blonde Aq Cast Bull from T Atkinson Newlands, and a Lim at £1480 from F Shepherd & Son.
There were fewer well fleshed cows in the mix and meat sold to a premium. KA&HL Fawcett & Son of Barden sold a great 7 year old Limousin cross at £1560, other strongest cows £1250 to £1380, but a well framed ¾ bred cow suitable for feeding was £1100 to £1280, next grade £1000 plus. First cross cows with frame £1050 to £1200, whilst feeding types £850 to £950, and leaner girls for grazing £650 to £800, plain end £550 to £650 for straight sorts, and one lightweight cow at £250. Overall average a tidy £985.76 for cows and £1680 for Stock Bulls (£1,011 overall)
