Feeding Bulls – trade was slightly back on the fortnight, anticipated because of feed cost and a variable finished price in the last couple of weeks. Strong continental bulls remain £1400-£1500 with very smart medium bulls similar on the fortnight at £1300. Good medium bulls from £120--£1300 have more margin and comfort for finishers.

Feeding Cows – a few more worn cows in todays entry. Heavier cows both continental and native £1300-£1500+ if carrying finish. Plenty of cows to feed between £1100 and £1200. Plain lighter cows £700+

Stores - Store cattle trading to similar prices with some younger soft cattle harder work but stylish growing cattle not trading at any less as well as the hard grazing bullocks! Feeding cattle in high demand again with all buyers actively competing ringside for numbers.

Feeding Cattle had plenty of interest ringside and a good mixed show forward. Angus steers saw plenty of trade strong goods £1200 plus with Top price of £1280 from B Keegan, Bradford. Next grade feeders £1100 plus with growing cattle with size £980 plus. Yearlings £750-£900 with some plainer end a touch less. Overall avg for all Angus steers £1121. Blue Bullocks firing on with plenty of pens selling above £1300. Top price from DT&LA Houseman & Sons, Darley at £1455 for his Dairy bred blue bullocks. Next grade down Feeders £1180-£1280. Hard yearling to 15-month-old steers £980-£1100. Some plainer end a touch less. Continental bullocks suckled bred firing on Lims sold to £1460 from NJ&SJ Pinder, Coniston Cold. Plenty of other feeders £1200 plus for frame. Yearling bullocks £980-£1100. Angus heifers sold to £1540 from MP&S Tyson, Skipton for a heavy over age heifer. Feeding heifers £1050-£1190. Dairy bred blue feeding heifers sold to a top price of £1450 from JD Taylor, Broughton who also sold 2 others at £1430. Typical feeding heifers sold at £1100-£1230. Younger end/ plainer end of the feeders exceeding 4 figures.

Suckler calves a nice trade for style but some more commercial goods harder to place. JS Stephenson, Bordley sold his 11-month-old heifer for £1490 with J Pickles, Chapel-Le- Dale selling his 14/15-month-old Lim heifers for £1560, £1610. Other heifers to make good butchers animals exceeded £1400 with plenty £1200-£1300. Commercial Lim grazing heifers could be picked up £850-£1000 depending on size and cross status.
