Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs
Forward: 1,911 Head, Overall av £87.51
An excellent start to the New Year Store Sheep Sales with medium and short keep lambs in good demand. A busy ringside of regular buyers from the local area together with from counties the length of the Welsh Borders, and a good contingent from Eastern Counties on the A1 corridor present ringside to bid for all classes.
Best Continental and Suffolk crosses for short keep £108 to £115, top price pen at £119 from KA&HL Fawcett & Son of Dalehead Farm. Mediums though were very well bid for, mainly top side of £100 to £106/£108. Long Keep lambs in the £80s and £90s with end of line sorts generally £50s to £70 depending on the goods.
The stronger end of Mules on the day up to £102 from JW Sayer & Son, otherwise mid £90’s to £100. Next grade in the £80s to early £90s, smalls £60’s and £70’s.
Cheviots a nice trade, topping £101 from JE Holden of Bury. A few pens of good Horned lambs getting int the £70s, mediums £60s and £60’s, smalls late £30s and £40’s, shots £20s.
A good entry needed for the next sale which will also include the first Inlamb ewes of the season. Please call the Mart Office by 4pm Monday 17th January.
